----------------------------------------------------- This info. is excerpted from a flyer "Dating CurtTeich Postcards". From 1898 to Dec 1928, a consecutive numbering system is used: 1 to 124181 Date 1898 to Dec 1928 A1 to A124181 Date 1910 to De 1928 R1 to R124181 Reprinted card 1900 to Dec 1928 Within the range 1 to 124181, research has revealed these major breakdowns: 28000 date 1910 55000 date 1915 80000 date 1920 103000 date 1925 124181 Dec 1928 In 1929, Teich Co abandoned the consecutive system and instituted an alpha/numeric production code. For example, 3AH-107 was printed in the year 1933.A refers to the decade 1930, 3 refers to the third year of the decade, and 107 refers to the card being the 107th card printed in the year 1933. The H referees to the printing method "Art Colortone". It is easy to date any Teich card printed after 1929 using the following breakdown: 1-29 date 1929 A-1to 9A-0 date 1930-39 B-1 to 9B-0 date 1940-49 C-1 to 9C-0 date 1950-59 D-1 to 9D-0 date 1960-69 E-1 to 4E-0 date 1970-74 The Curt Teich Postcard Archives are located at the Lake County Museum in Wauconda, IL, 708-526-8638.They can perform research for you (for a fee) and you might want to become a member to recieve their publication and support this important postcard resource. Hope this is helpful. Frank Lopez, Technical Library, Chevron Research & Technology Co.
