Weavel with son and crew who crossed Pacific Ocean on Chinese Junk " AMOY in 87 days, Shnaghai to Vitoria, B.C., Signed F G Goodborough( not clear??), See Back Small AZO stampbox PHOTO, RPPC, B/W-Tan, unused, VERY RARE ITEM (hist) PS: Here is a note from one of the family in photo
I'm Bob Nilson and I think I can shed some light on your postcard.

In 1922 the Chinese Junk Amoy did cross from China to Victoria, British Columbia in 87 days.

Aboard her were her Dutch Captain, George Waard, his Chinese Wife, Choyee, their 10-year-old son, Bobby and three Chinese crewmen whose names I don't know. (The crew returned to China shortly after their arrival on the West Coast.)

When the Amoy reached San Francisco, my father, Alfred Nilson, joined the family as crew. He sailed with them down to South America, through the Panama Canal and up the East Coast. In New York City he met Rita Bauer. Long story short, they fell in love, married, bought the Amoy and raised three sons (myself included) aboard her.

The boat was a colorful, floating art museum and Captain Waard, and later my family exhibited her to thousands of visitors. Admission was 25 cents (from 1922 to 1961 it never changed). In 1961 my family sold the Amoy. That same year she was lost i n a storm near Cape Hatteras.

F. S. Goodinough rings no bell with me but it might with my West Coast relatives.
