" INDIAN & TOTEM POLE POSTCARDS "
WALTSPAPER
| INDIANS & TOTEM POLE - This is a topic that is very historical, as it takes you back to the early U.S., prior to the white man ever setting foot on
N. America. Many of the postcards depict the various tribes that existed. Their dress, hogans, dances, way of life, etc. Many collectors only collect
one tribe, or only cards on the way of life. One can accumulate a vast number of postcards in this highly topical area of interest.
---Many cards show the wonderful totem poles that were carved out of wood and erected by the Indians of many tribes in the Northwest, many very bright in
color and told a story with the various faces that were carved in the wood. This craft of making them is slowly disappearing and the old totem poles
are also going the way of nature. These postcards will keep them alive for all time.
---There are many reference books on the history of Indians in the U.S. and other parts of N.America. Check at your local library and you shall see!
