| RAPHAEL TUCK & SONS, England-Was an outstanding and prolific publisher of early modern postcards, Ext 1866 to frame and sell chromo prints. Adolph Tuck ran first art competition for greeting card design. On Nov. 1899 he began
postcard production with first numbered series(24 London views, issued July, 1900, with a second updated version of "Buckingham Palace with Queens Outrider reprinted after the death of Queen Victoria, with a change of title to "Buckingham Palace with
Kings Outrider. Much of the early printing was done in Germany by Chromolithography using 10 or 12 stones. Embossed & hand cut dies. The company took special pride in being Art Publishers to British Royalty and many series show this connection to
WWII.Paper shortages nearly closed the plant but they finally got paper rations and continued to produce cards. The London factory was destroyed by German bombs and the New factory in Northhampton burned in 1954. No short listing can show the scope
of Tuck's work. International views include U.S.views, Military, Ships, art, (Oilettes), Greetings, artist signed, royalty, Queen's Doll house-1924(Very expensive): Louis Wain, Harry Payne, C.Klein, F.Earl Christy, Asti, Frances Brundage, and many
others. The many Holiday cards produced by TUCK boggles the mind, and is one of the best topics that can be collected. Condition is important here, as many can be found heavily damaged, because the early paper on the undivided back cards was not as
